Right, so you want to hit the gym. The Christmas period has got you shaking your bowl full of jelly, but without the excuse of a festive season to fall back on. Extraordinarily, it's starting to change from a few holiday pounds to plain old pounds. But you've taken a look in the mirror, and whilst it's still cold outside - the time has come to get rid of the blubber that's been keeping you warm, and out of shape.
So what do you need get the ball rolling, a few things you by now have hopefully. You've already taken a look in the mirror, but then you need grit and determination. You need to be able to not give up, and take on the challenge to feel the burn. If you've got that, then you're halfway there. You need a place to work. Maybe you've got a training machine at home, or you've got a gym membership that allows you a bit more variety. So, that's the practical things taken care of. It's all relatively simple from here on out, or is it.
Let's say you get to the gym, you've got your shorts on and you're looking to slam dunk your first workout. But then you get on the elliptical trainer and after fifteen minutes your water bottle is running as low as your energy levels. You're collapsing and are struggling to perform. Well let me just tell you a little secret. That water might seem refreshing and the most logical thing to drink before and during your workout but it just doesn't have the edge of an electrolyte drink.
Electrolytes occur naturally in your body, and provide rehydration. An electrolyte drink contains sodium and potassium salts to provide energy too. It's much more hydrating than water alone, and they are just as easy on the stomach. And it can really help to get you going in the gym, finish a really good workout - and therefore make a dent in that flabby gut more easily.
There are so many different options out there; it's almost too hard to choose. There are thousands, literally thousands of varieties out there. But there are a few things you can look out for to help narrow your search, and therefore find and effective drink that is right for you. Some drinks are designed specifically for outdoor or indoor use, so look for one that is suited to your workout environment. The balance of electrolytes is important too; look for a product that is marketed as well balanced for all round hydration.
