There is a philosophy backing everything, whether it is obvious or not it is there. In politics it is evidently clear that some peoples philosophical views on government are going to be much worse than others, for example having more governmental control is only going to strangle natural development.
Without going to deep into it, it can be summarized in these seven words: you cannot create wealth by dividing it. Furthermore government doesn't actually produce anything, so you must know that when government jobs are created they will in no way help the national economy.
It is easy to draw the thought process of politicians, most of whom are just being controlled by lobbyist and playing there seat in congress like a charade. Though, when you try to take the philosophical principles that drive industries such as the fast food business that is when things get tricky.
Take a look at what is actually being sold. The consumer (you) are simply being fed, the faster the better.
They (the fast food industry) are simply trying to fulfill a desire that you have now. Meaning as soon as you get an impulsive craving to eat, they want to be the ones that feed you.
More than anything they are selling satisfaction, they are, in many ways, very similar to the tobacco companies. Of course fast food doesn't kill half the people in a year that tobacco does, even still there are numerous reports showing how fast foods is disadvantageous to one's health.
Which brings along point two; to make the production of their foods cheaper, they simply have to cut out nutritious whole foods and sub them for preservatives, thickeners, and other additives. Here you would think that the consumer would smarten up, but, unfortunately, no.
As it turns out the consumer doesn't even care if the foods are not providing any nutritional value. They are simply buying sustenance that will fulfill their immediate desires.
In a Freudian sense this would correlate to the perception of the id, meaning near sighted and with a very carnal perspective toward things. Of course everybody gives into the fast food devil every now and then, but in your society don't you think it has become too prevalent?
Perhaps people are just too impatient to sit and listen to debates, or perhaps they are too lazy to think about them for themselves, perhaps it is because fast food has created a lethargic sort of attention deficit. Look at it from a new point of view, try to understand things in a different light, fast food is changing America, is it for better or for worse? Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert.
