To get the most repulsive and uncomfortable disorder out of the way first would be easiest for everyone. Sexsomnia, yes it has something to do with sex, basically it is subset group of parasomnia.
Parasomnia is where the individual does some, well, paranormal things during sleep. In the case sexsomnia the individual just acts out sexually while unconscious.
This can be very scary to experience for someone who is not prepared for it, basically someone with the disorder will start masturbating, perform intercourse, or just do something they wouldn't do while consciously aware of themselves. Usually this will go away after a short period of time, if it doesn't you may need to find a good sleep medication to keep your promiscuous unconscious detained.
Night terrors are much less uncomfortable for an outside observer, but much more horrifying for someone with the disorder. Every one experiences nightmares, these are very common, but night terrors take it up a notch, actually more like ten notches.
A night terror isn't technically a dream it is actually a reaction that takes place while transitioning from phase-2 sleep to phase-3 sleep. It is an interesting phenomenon, basically the body is radically compelled to avoid deep sleep.
Night terrors can leave a person inconsolable and they usually happen in kids. A child may think to have dreamed during the time of the night terror, but true dreams do not take place until REM sleep is acquired.
If a child is experiencing a night terror they may be acting out unconsciously, it is best to not wake your kid up. Do your best to reduce stress in your kid's environment, get them to bed on a set schedule and feed them healthy brain foods before bed.
Acting out in sleep can mean a variety of different things. Sometimes people will do things without reason it seems, this would be REM Behavior disorder.
People who suffer with such a disease have a hard time not acting their dreams out. There is a little area of the brain that is supposed to but the body under paralysis, but in these patients that part of the brain just doesn't work.
Walking, talking, doing pointless things at three in the morning could be a sign that you have REM behavior disorder, unless of course you are doing these things consciously. This disorder can be harmful because, well if you thought you could drive in a dream and found yourself meandering the streets, obviously that could lead to trouble.
If this is a disorder that will not pass, you may need something like melatonin to help you sleep, if that is not strong enough there are other medications that your doctor could tell you about.
