Keeping Your Teeth Safe While Eating

Read 72 times since Friday, March 05, 2010

We all have been taught since we were young that we are supposed to brush and floss our teeth daily to protect our teeth from decay. Although we have been told that we should not eat candy or sugary foods because they are bad for our teeth, many of us have not been taught what we should be eating to ensure healthy teeth.

There are a lot of foods and drinks out there that enable our mouth to more adequately protect our teeth from cavities. By including foods that are healthy for our teeth in our diet we will be able to avoid the complications of many problems.

Having problems in your mouth can be very expensive. Whether it is your gums, your tongue or your teeth, these problems can also be very painful.

The idea that going to the dentist is painful is reinforced when people go to the dentist with a lot of problems. If you are keeping your mouth healthy, visiting the dentist will be a positive experience.

There are some foods that you may have never expected to protect your teeth. Wasabi is a prime example of an obscure food that protects teeth.

Wasabi is the green condiment that is often times served with sushi or other Japanese dishes. It has coined the name, "the Japanese horseradish" because of its strong taste.

Sesame Seeds are an extremely small seed that are believed to do great things for your teeth. Not only are these little seeds jam packed with calcium which will fortify and strengthen your teeth, but as you eat them they will scratch off plaque.

There are many anthropologists that believe seeds like sesame seeds are the reason that our Paleolithic ancestors had excellent teeth. So, the next time you are eating a salad or you have steamed vegetables sprinkle a few sesame seeds on to help your teeth.

Even drinking more water can help the health of your mouth. The water will keep your gums hydrated and will push your mouth to produce saliva.

Your saliva is your body's greatest defense mechanism against the bacteria that negatively effect one's teeth. If you find yourself in a position that you cannot brush your teeth after a meal make sure that you at least rinse your mouth out with water.

Kiwis may be a small fruit, but they pack in more vitamin C than does any other fruit. If you are not able to get enough Vitamin C in your system your gums may become more tender and susceptible to bacteria that are associated with periodontal diseases.

Any food that has a lot of protein in it will be good for your teeth. The protein will help your muscle fibers grow in your mouth.

Many people stray from onions because of the way they smell. This strong smelling vegetable is good not only good for protecting your teeth but it also kills the bacteria and germs that come in.

If you snore at night and it is either waking you up or waking those around you up it is important to remember to keep a simple procedure in mind. If you do not feel that you can eat just an onion by itself, chop up an onion and throw it in your salads or in your sandwiches.

If you do have the guts to be eating a raw onion because of the way that it will smell, all you have to do is have fresh parsley on hand. The fresh parsley will help you give your best smile that is also smell free.

The parsley have monoterpenes, which can travel from your bloodstream and right back into your arms. Not only will you be helping your body but your breath will smell extremely fresh.

Shiitake mushrooms are very healthy to eat. Instead of trying to cook with the shitake mushroom, try throwing them into a salad or into a sandwich.

You will hardly be able to taste the mushrooms but they will help your heart and your body. These mushrooms along with all of these other easy changes will greatly help your health.

Drinking green tea will also help kill the bacteria in your mouth that should not be there. Green tea is a powerful tool to prevent the occurrence of plaque and the decay that follows plaque.

Knowing to include these foods in your diet may help you to become healthier. Just making simple changes in day to day life may eventually make a big difference.
