Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. It is also known as an "anorectic" or "anorexigenic" drug. Phentermine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite. Oral Phentermine Hydrochloride (HCL) is an appetite suppressant sold for weight loss for to combat obesity. Phentermine is a popular diet pill because it is a safe for weight loss when taken as the doctor ordered. It works best combined with a good diet plan and exercise. Many web sites now sell the diet pill Phentermine. Beware of scams though.

Phentermine Information

Phentermine is classed as an appetite suppressant. This class of drug works by stimulating the hypothalamus gland and affecting certain neurotransmitters to decrease appetite. The hypothalamus is the region of the brain that controls the autonomic nervous system and regulates sleep cycles and body temperature and it also controls the appetite and hunger levels.

The diet-drug combination of fenfluramine and phentermine, commonly known as phentermine, is taken by millions of Americans (men and women) and has been available since the late 1980s.

Physicians have written more than 18 million prescriptions for phentermine, which increases the level of the brain chemical serotonin, thereby curbing the appetite and giving patients the sensation of being full.

Doctors say phentermine isn't meant for people who want to lose a few pounds for cosmetic reasons. The drug is designed for people who are about 30 percent over a healthy body weight or for those who are 20 percent overweight with medical problems such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

The drug is supposed to be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program. But according to doctors who prescribe the drug, the combination is marginally effective, with most patients losing about 10 percent to 15 percent of their original weight.
